Assigned to create whatever we wanted with a collaborative poem written in class, where each line of the poem was written only knowing the line immediately before it. Inspired by one line “I’m ready for my close-up Mr. Devil,” a 1950’s film, I decided to take most of my imagery from 1950’s ads in the RISD picture collection. For each line I incorporated them into an image I found appropriate and mounted each design to a magnet. From there I placed a metal strip to the wall and allowed my classmate to switch the poem’s lines around- allowing both the images and words to react in new ways.
